Starting April 1, 2024, applicants filing for citizenship will be able to request an original or replacement Social Security number (SSN) or card
and update their immigration status with the Social Security Administration (SSA) without having to visit an SSA office.
New citizens may no longer need to visit an SSA field office to apply for an SSN or replacement card or provide documentation as evidence of their new U.S. citizenship status. However, the SSA may request additional information if needed. This is a great benefit to new applicants, as it can take weeks or months to see a clerk at the SSA office.
If you qualify for citizenship, now is the time to apply. Interviews are arriving faster than they have in a long time! Let us know if you would like our assistance in this process.
